ONE HUNDRED KILOMETRES FOR KENNY [10*(10K4K)]- Day 8

7km and 1 Hour plus later I get back home...

In order to ready about Day 2, it would help matters if you had the background, by reading what took place on Days 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Go there and then hurry back.

Day 8

Last night was a Friday night, and very very uncharacteristically, I was out of the house till somewhere just past midnight. It was a birthday outing for my friend, Zahara. And we went to Sky Lounge. It was also the birthday of another close friend, Ivan Cadri. Safe to say, I had all my people with me. It was fun, for some of us, the only outing on the record for close to 5 years.

By virtue of the background I have provided, the next morning was quite difficult. Thankfully, my body clock enables me to arise before 7 oclock. I am not rested, I am dehydrated and feel like I am elegantly occupying an unproductive space. I immediately know what I must do to get out of that little funk. I lace up whilst still half asleep. I am amused by how unprepared my body is to go through any physical exertion. I am happy, however, that the mind forced it through. I embark on one of the most leisurely runs around the neighborhood in Kiwatule.

Saturday mornings are often times disproportionately inhabited by serious runner types, pounding the suburban roads and pathways, proudly tracking their mileage. And here I was milling about, pretending to run, looking not significantly different from a newly born calf taking its first steps. At the end of the day we were all on the road, albeit for different reasons. I have my challenge to complete, they just want to make the rest of us look bad and in so doing feel better about themselves. To each their own.

7km and 1 Hour plus later I get back home, shower, eat , sleep and proceed to have a very sedentary day. Running was a good idea because it offset much of the rest of the day’s slouching. 80KM. (This thing is as good as done)
